Global Leaders Program: 2016 Application now LIVE!
Friends of the Illinois Tech Global Leaders Program,
We're excited to announce that the Global Leaders Program Application for 2016 is LIVE and accepting applications. We accept applications from students currently in their sophomore year of high school. If you know students who are anticipated to graduate in 2018, we would appreciate you sharing this information with them.
Our program, previously known as the IIT Boeing Scholars Academy, supports highly-motivated students as they gain the skills, experience, and knowledge necessary to get to and through highly selective colleges and universities. We work to empower students to lead and serve through STEM. To learn more about our approach and the benefits offered by our program, please visit us at globalleaders.iit.edu.
We are conducting a series of regional info sessions to introduce students to our program. This year, we're partnering with some generous Chicago high schools to bring our info sessions to more neighborhoods. Students and families from ALL schools are welcome to attend any info session. There is no need to attend more than one info session, so students and families can choose the location and date most convenient for them. Please share these opportunities with students and families!  A schedule of our info sessions is available here. Register online here: bit.ly/GLPinfoRSVP2016.
Thanks again for spreading the word about our program. Please feel free to reach out to Luke with specific questions or to identify students you think are especially apt for the program. We appreciate your partnership!

Job Shadow Days with GLP are structured experiences that provide our Scholars with the opportunity to explore different career paths and identify possible career interests. A small group of Scholars would visit your work site for around three hours (2 hours of work plus lunch). During this time, you might:
  • Give Scholars a general introduction to your company/organization
  • Take students on a tour of your facilities
  • Discuss who you are, what you do, and your path to get where you are
  • Ask students about their experiences and interests
  • Allow students to observe or assist you with your work (this could be as simple as sitting in on a meeting or assisting with a regular task you complete)
  • Arrange for coworkers to join you and the visiting Scholars for lunch
These opportunities will coincide with school holidays in February or CPS' Spring Break in April. You can read more about this opportunity here. Interested organizations, contact Charlie (clindqui@iit.edu) directly.
